Prof Khurshid Alam new DGHS chief

The government has appointed Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, a professor at Surgery of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, as the director general of the Directorate General of Health Services. 

Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.

His appointment was announced hours after the government cancelled contractual appointment of prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad as DGHS director general.

Earlier on Tuesday, prof Azad resigned as the health directorate chief amid criticism over his handling of coronavirus pandemic.
