Sahed handed over to RAB

Regent Group Chairman Sahed Karim alias Md Sahed was handed over to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Thursday after they were given the charge of investigation of a case filed over coronavirus test scam and fraudulence. 

RAB appealed for taking the charge of the case and the Home Ministry approved it.  

Lt Col Ashique Billah, RAB’s Legal and Media wing director, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Earlier, detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police was tasked with the investigation and Sahed was on a 10-day remand in their custody.

RAB arrested Sahed from Satkhira on July 15 while he was trying to leave the country through border.

On July 6, RAB conducted separate drives at the Uttara and Mirpur branches of Regent Hospital and arrested eight people for issuing fake Covid-19 test certificates and collecting money from COVID-19 patients.

On July 7, RAB filed a case against 17 people, including Sahed in this regard.
