Eid holidays for garment workers 3 days

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that Eid-ul-Azha holidays for the garment workers will be three days coinciding with the public holidays. 

He said this after a meeting on payment of factory workers' salary, bonus, and their holidays, as well as overall law and order situation in the industrial areas on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azhaat held at the Secretariat on Thursday.

"There will be holidays for readymade garment and factory workers conciding with public holidays. We will keep watch so that all stay in respective location," the minister said. 

Mentioning that the workers have been paid salary of June, home minister said the Ministry of Labour and Employment will subsequently decide about salary of July sitting with garment exporters' association BGMEA.

Senior secretary of public security division  Mostafa Kamal Uddin, inspector general of police Benzir Ahmed, leaders of BGMEA and BKMEA, among others, were present at the meeting.   

Earlier on July 13, cabinet secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said holidays of upcomiong Eid-ul-Azha will not be extended, rather it would be three days.

The public servants will have to stay at workplace during the holidays, he said.
