No Bangladeshi went to Italy with fake coronavirus certificate

No Bangladeshi had gone to Italy with fake coronavirus certificate, the Ministry of Bangladesh Foreign Affairs said in a statement today.

The remark has made after the news published by some newspapers and television channels regarding detection of coronavirus among some Bangladeshi expatriates in Italy.

Some 1,600 Bangladeshis, who went to Italy recently, didn’t carry fake coronavirus certificates, the statement said.

The Italian government does not put any condition to carry Covid-19 certificate for entry in that country, it said adding that some Bangladeshis carry the coronavirus negative certificates on their own just in case they need those.

Unfortunately, some Bangladeshis who travelled to Italy in the recent days did not follow the mandatory quarantine rule, and probably a few of them might have spread the virus in the community, it added.

In the last one week, out of 5,000 tests, 65 Bangladeshis resident in the Lazzio region of Italy tested Covid-19 positive.

Italy has suspended flights from Bangladesh and 12 other countries till July 31.
