Dr Sabrina on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury on a 3-day remand in a case filed with Tejgaon Police Station for issuing fake COVID-19 certificates.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman passed the order on Monday.

Earlier on Sunday, she was taken to DMP’s Tejgaon division office for questioning. Later, she was shown arrested in the case as she did not give any satisfactory answers over the fraud.

Sabrina’s husband and JKG chief executive officer Ariful Haque Chowdhury and a few others are also accused in the case.

The fraudulence of JKG Health Care, a sister concern of Oval Group, came into the light when police, on June 23, detained five people in the capital for their alleged involvement in providing COVID-19 test certificates without testing samples.

Later on June 24, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) cancelled the permission that allowed JKG Health Care to collect COVID-19 samples, set up sample collection centres and provide training.
