Travel ban imposed on Sahed

Police have imposed a travel ban on the chairman of Regent Group Sahed Karim alias Md Sahed in connection with some irregularities and fraudulent activities.  

A letter was sent to the Immigration Department in this regard on Thursday, some officials seeking anonymity said.

The immigration authorities were asked to take necessary steps to prevent Sahed accused in a fraudulent case leaving the country, it said in the letter. 

Earlier on Wednesday, a Dhaka court fixed August 31 for submitting probe report in a lawsuit lodged against Regent Group Chairman Md Sahed and 16 others for allegedly issuing COVID-19 certificates without conducting test.

On Tuesday, a case was filed against them with Uttara Police Station in this regard.

On Monday, RAB conducted separate drives at the Uttara and Mirpur branches of Regent Hospital and arrested eight people for issuing fake Covid-19 test certificates and collecting money from COVID-19 patients.
