Tk 58cr allocation to pay jute mill workers' June salary

The government has allocated Tk 58 crore to pay June month's arrears of the workers of jute mills except Alim Jute Mills under BJMC.

The Ministry of Finance on Sunday allotted the money which would be paid to the workers' bank account, a handout from Textiles and Jute Ministry said.

Earlier on Friday, Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi in a press conference said jute mill workers would be paid salary of Month June to their bank account next week as per the Wage Commission-2015.

The handout also said wages of notice period or July-August of the jute mill workers would be paid in both months accordingly.

Fifty percent of their other all dues, including Provident fund, gratuity and golden handshake facility (A significant severance package provided by employer if the employee loses their job), would be given their respective bank account.

And rest half would be paid as Savings Certificate in respective names by September, said the notice. 

Earlier on Thursday, the government has decided to shutdown production at 25 state-owned jute mills under Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation by paying 100 percent of their dues.
