Tk 20cr bill for food cost false: DMCH director
The director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin has rejected the reports of Tk 20 crore bill for monthly foods of doctors, nurses and other health workers engaged in the treatment of coronavirus patients.
He said this while addressing a press conference held at DMCH on Wednesday.
He said, it is a false propaganda. The money is spent to pay the hotel bills. We are spending Tk 500 for food per person.
Facing severe criticism over the issue, the DMCH director offered an explanation to journalists on Wednesday.
At least 150 doctors, 250 nurses and more than 100 other medical workers contracted the coronavirus as of now. They are quarantined in hotels in line with the health protocols, he said.
The DMCH asked the hotels to limit food bills to Tk 500 per day per person, the director said.
Earlier on Monday, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina said that the expenditure of Tk 20 crore against hotel rent and foods of a medical college seemed to be slightly unusual.
‘We’re investigating it as to why it is so unusual. We’ll take action if any irregularity occurred there,’ she added.
