Govt to appoint 4000 more nuses to fight Covid-19

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the government will appoint additional 4000 nurses to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Mentioning appointment of 2000 doctors and 6000 nurses within a short time to ensure treatment of coronavirus-infected people, she said, "I asked the health minister to appoinment 4000 more nurses."

"Posts of 2000 more physicians and 3000 technicians have been created in the health sector. And the appointment process has alread begun," the premier said this taking part in general discussion on proposed Budget 2020-21 in the parliament on Monday.

About her government's steps to increase health facilities, PM said two projects involving around Tk 2,500 crore have been approved to this end and another is about in final stage.

"I believe our capability to fight against corona will rise more if those (projects) are implemented," she added.
