Buriganga launch capsize: 32 bodies recovered

Bodies of 32 people were recovered after a launch named “Morning Bird” with more than 50 passengers on board capsized in Buriganga adjacent to Shymbazar area in Old Dhaka on Monday morning.

Rozina Akter, Duty Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, confirmed the matter to Jago News this evening.

She said, 32 bodies were recovered from the spot so far. Among the deceased, 19 were men, eight women and three children.

The incident took place when a launch named “Moyur-2” hit “Morning Bird”, at 10am. Some of the passengers managed to swim ashore after the incident.

Members of fire service, coast guard and army are conducting search operation.
