Woman gives birth to second child 39 days after first

A woman in Mymensingh has given birth to her second child 39 days after the birth of first one.

Aminul Islam and Rita Akter couple was blessed with the babies- a girl and a boy- three and a half years after they had been without any child.

The couple hailed from Nayanagar village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur.

In 31 weeks of pregnancy, the woman delivered a baby daughter on May 13, and gave birth to a baby son on June 23.

Dr Shila Sen, to whom childless Rita received treatment hoping a child, said 39 days interval in birth of twin babies is rare case.

Normally delivery of twin babies takes from a few minutes to one or two hours, she said, adding that the mother and newborn babies are doing well.

Rita said, "After consulting with Dr Shila, by grace of Allah I became pregnant and gave twin babies. I proud of them."
