BMA chief Mostofa Jalal catches Covid-19

President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and former Dhaka-7 lawmaker Dr Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin has been hospitalized after contracting the novel coronavirus.

Confirming the matter on Tuesday, BMA secretary general Dr Md Ihteshamul Haque Chowdhury said, "He (Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin) is now doing well."

Earlier on Monday, the Awami League politician tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, and is now taking at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Ihteshamul added.

The number of coronavirus-infected physicians, nurses, and other health workers in Bangladesh kept soaring.

As of Monday, 1097 doctors, 957 nurses and 1460 other health workers caught the deadly virus, according to BMA.

Besides, 45 doctors, so far, died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
