Bills placed in JS to set up universities in Chandpur, Habiganj
Two bills were placed in Parliament on Tuesday for setting up a science and technology university in Chandpur and an agriculture one in Habiganj, reports UNB.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni placed the Bills in the House and both were sent to the respective parliamentary standing committees for further scrutiny. The committee was asked to submit its reports within one month.
The bills are 'Chandpur Science and Technology University Bill, 2020' and ‘Habiganj Agriculture University Bill, 2020’.
The universities will be like any other university, he said, adding that the number of public universities will stand at 48 in the country with the starting of journey of the two specialised universities.
The President will be the chancellor of the universities. Like other universities, there will be vice-chancellor, pro-vice chancellors, registrar, treasurer, controller of examinations, syndicates and academic council at the universities.
