PM hints at introduction of yearlong Hajj registration system
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today hinted at introduction of yearlong Hajj registration to make Hajj management more easy and dynamic, reports BSS.
"We are taking decision about yearlong registration for the Hajj pilgrims. In the existing system, hurriedness is seen among the Hajj pilgrims to register their names within specific timeframe," she said.
The Prime Minister said if the registration is made throughout the year, the Hajj pilgrims could register their names taking time and smoothly.
"Then the Hajj pilgrims could be selected through lottery system after fixing their number by the Saudi government," she said.
In this connection, Sheikh Hasina said the registration would be made through online and it would make Hajj management easier and dynamic.
The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating Hajj activities-2015 (Hijri 1436) at Ashkona Haji Camp in Uttara here this morning.
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman presided over the function, while Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Religious Affairs Ministry Bazlul Haque Harun, local lawmaker Advocate Sahara Khatun and Saudi Charge d` Affaires in Dhaka Al Hasan Ali Al Hazmi spoke as the special guests.
Religious Affairs Secretary Dr Chowdhury Md Babul Hasan delivered the welcome address and Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Khorshed Alam Chowdhury gave the vote of thanks.
The Prime Minister also warned that proper legal action would be taken against those who would cheat with the Hajj pilgrims.
"We have taken steps so that the Hajj pilgrims are not cheated by anybody. Then, anyone deceives with the Hajj pilgrims, proper legal action would be taken against the culprit immediately," she said.
