Coronavirus cases in police force cross 7000

The coronavirus cases in police force surpassed 7000 as more than 400 policemen newly contracted the disease.

There is no sign of decrease but the force have been witnessing newer records of infections since the outbreak.

In the past 24 hours, the deadly virus infected record 409 cops, bringing such number of cases in the force to 7,021.

A total of 19 police members died from COVID-19, the disease caused by novel coronavirus as of Tuesday, said the sources in police headquarters.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been hardest hit with 17850 cops contracted the virus.

A total of 3,049 police members recovered from COVID-19. 

Bangladesh confirmed its first COVID-19 cases on March 8, and since then it has been seeing hike in the number of infections and deaths.

The country's virus cases stood at 71,675, with biggest daily jump of 3,171, and 45 more deaths, taking the fatalities to 975.
