Health Minister inaugurates telemedicine service for COVID-19 patients

Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated a call center for COVID-19 patients through a video conference recently.  

Bangladesh Society of Medicine (BSM) launched this program to facilitate the telemedicine service during the COVID-19 pandemic, said a press releases.  

This initiative is also backed by three other doctors’ associations, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (SWACHIP) and Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). 

During the online inauguration, the health minister said that facilitating treatment over phone, the associations have set an example of fulfilling their duties towards the people and the country.

The leaders of the associations assured that those who are already hospitalized or currently in isolation and waiting for hospital admission, will be provided necessary medical advice by the specialist through 24-hour hotlines. 

They said that people will be able to connect to a specialist as well as receive general treatment.

COVID-19 patients can now call 24-hour hotline numbers which are active from Wednesday. The mobile numbers are: 01313791130, 01313791138, 01313791139 and 01313791140.
