Govt bans three persons on bike: Home Boss
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Monday said the government has banned riding motorcycles by more than two people across the country.
The minister came up with the announcement a day after the brutal killing of a SP Babul Akter’s wife by three unknown assailants who came to the murder scene riding a motorbike in Chittagong city.
‘Only two people are allowed to ride a motorcycle, not three. As we often see that the targeted killings are carried out by three motorcyclists in the country,’ said the minister to journalists at the Secretariat.
He said a directive has already been given to law enforcement agencies in this regard.
‘We are thinking about providing security to the members of law enforcement agencies and their families, and the ministry will take initiatives in this regard.’ he said.
Replying to a question over the recent spate of killings, Asaduzzaman said, ‘It’s a part of local and international conspiracy as we’ve got information that some local politicians and some other people are involved in the killing.’
On Sunday, Mahmuda Khanam, 33, wife of police super Babul Akhter and grocer Sunil Gomej, 60, were killed in daring attacks by unknown assailants in Chittagong and Natore districts.
