Key accused in human trafficking to Libya arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-3 has arrested one of the masterminds of the human trafficking ring, in connection with the killings of 26 Bangladeshis in Libya.

Kamal Hossain, 55, was arrested from Shahjadpur area in the capital’s Gulshan on Monday morning.

Abu Jafar Md Rahmatullah, Senior ASP of RAB-3, said they conducted a drive in the area and arrested Kamal. Many passports have been recovered from his possession. 

He gave some important information during the primary interrogation, said the RAB official.

A group of miscreants captivated some 38 Bangladeshis for ransom as the traffickers were escorting them to Tripoli from Benghazi across the desert of Libya. 

A total of 26 Bangladeshis were killed and 11 got injured on Thursday.
