Bangladesh coronavirus deaths cross 450
The coronavirus related deaths in Bangladesh surpassed 450, with 20 more people died from the disease in the past 24 hours.
During the period, 1873 more coronavirus cases, the highest single-day spike, were recorded, making the country's total infections to 32,078.
In the last 24 hours, samples of 10,834 people were examined. Among them, 1873 caught Covid-19, DGHS's ADG prof Dr Nasima Sultana said on Saturday, adding that 20 more coronavirus patients died, making the total fatalities to 452.
In Directorate General of Health Services' regular bulletin on coronavirus, she also said the number of total recovery from the deadly virus stood at 6,486, with 296 new ones.
She also mentioned that a total of 2,34,675 samples were examined since the outbreak started in the country.
Prof Nasima called on all to stay at home and follow health guidelines issued by the health department to stem the transmission of the pathogen.
Bangladesh first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8. Since then the country has been witnessing increase in the infections and deaths.
The highly contagious virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to 213 countries and territories.
As of Saturday, the pathogen infected 5,317,625 people and killed 340,214 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total recovery from the coronavirus pandemic reached 2,169,012 across the world.
