87pc foreign returnees have no income source: Survey
Around 87 percent of the expatriates, who returned home in recent months due to the coronavirus pandemic, now have no any income source to lead a batter life, a survey said.
Only 33 percent abroad returnees said they can spend for three months or some more periods with own savings but 52 percent ones said they need urgent financial assistance.
Bangladesh based international development organisation BRAC's migration programme conducted the survey titled 'Impact of COVID-19 on the lives of foreign returnees and their livelihood'.
While doing the survey, BRAC's migration programme talked to such 558 foreign returnees.
The migration programme chief Shariful Hasan said 74 percent participants of the survey said they have been experiencing severe stress about their future.
With a view to removing their frustration, 12 counselors of the programme have been counseling them, Shariful added.
