Nearly 200 cops contract coronavirus in 24hrs

Bangladesh police members are being infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) significantly, with 198 more caught the virus in the past 24 hours.

As of Friday, 2141 cops tested positive for the deadly virus and seven died, according to the data provided by the force's different units.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been hardest hit with 1041 personnel caught the virus.

A total of 333 police members, so far, recovered from the epidemic. 

Bangladesh confirmed its first COVID-19 cases on March 8, and since then it has been seeing hike in the number of infections and deaths.

Today the country recorded 1202 coronavirus patients, the highest single-day spike. As a result, a total of 20,065 people were infected with the virus, and 298 died.
