Eid Jamaat in mosque; no hugging after prayers
The government has urged the Muslims to say prayers of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr inside nearby mosque instead of eidgah or other open places, and avoid hugging each other to help it limit the coronavirus' spread.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs made the urge in an an emergency notification issued on Thursday.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in Bangladesh on May 24 or 25 subject to appearance of Moon in the sky.
Some 18,863 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Bangladesh and 283 died from the pathogen as of Thursday since the country confirmed its first COVID-19 cases on March 8.
