Number of coronavirus-positive police nears 2000
Bangladesh police members are being infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) significantly, with 48 more caught the virus in the past 24 hours.
As of Wednesday, 1926 cops tested positive for the deadly virus and seven died, according to the data provided by the force's different units.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been hardest hit with 907 personnel contracted the virus.
Additional 23 policemen recovered from the epidemic, taking the total recovery in the force to 298.
Bangladesh confirmed its first COVID-19 cases on March 8, and since then it has been seeing hike in the number of infections and deaths.
Today the country recorded 1162 coronavirus patients, the highest single-day spike. As a result, a total of 17,822 people were infected with the virus, and 269 died.
