Atiq takes office as DNCC mayor for 2nd term

Atiqul Islam, the newly elected mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), took office for the second term on Wednesday.

Mohammad Zamal Mostafa, panel mayor of DNCC, handed over his mayorship to the elected mayor in an ordinary programme.

DNCC’s Chief Executive Officer Abdul Hai, Secretary Rabindra Sree Barua and Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Mominur Rahman Mamun were present among others during this time.

However, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh will take charge as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Saturday.

The two city corporation polls were held on February 1.

The two heavyweights Awami League mayor candidates won the city polls with huge margin of votes in the city polls.

Five-year tenure of the incumbent public representatives of DNCC expires today while that of DSCC on May 16.
