Deputy Education Minister’s mother infected with coronavirus

Hasina Mohiuddin, mother of Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, tested positive for Covid-19.

Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi confirmed the matter to Jago News around 1am on Wednesday.

Hasina is also the wife of late Awami League leader and former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury.

On Saturday, her younger son Bourhanul Hasan Chowdhury Salehin had tested Covid-19 poitive.

Dr Selim Akter Chowdhury, chief medical officer of the CCC and her son-in-law, said: “After Salehin tested positive, we sent eight specimens from the house and of those, the samples of my mother-in-law, a watchman and a domestic worker came back positive.”
