Coronavirus claims 7 lives in police force

Another police member died from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Saturday night, taking such number of deaths in the force to seven.

The newly dead Jalal Uddin Khoka was a traffic constable of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) east division, police headquarters AIG Sohel Rana told Jago News.

Earlier, six policemen died from the deadly virus in the country.

Today the number of coronavirus-positive cops stood at 1,509 after 80 more ones caught the epidemic in the past 24 hours.

Bangladesh confirmed its first COVID-19 cases on March 8, and since then it has been seeing hike in the number of infections and deaths.

Today the country recorded 636 coronavirus patients, taking the total to 13,770, and total fatalities 214.
