59 tested positive for coronavirus in 24 hours in Ctg

Fifty-nine people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Chattogram.

Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir, Chattogram divisional health director, confirmed the new cases around 1:05pm on Friday. 

Samples from 193 people were examined at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) on Thursday and out of them 19 got positive results for the virus.

Besides, samples from 61 people were examined at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and out of them 40 more got positive for the virus.

With this, so far 197 people have been infected with the virus in the port city. Of them, 14 died and 32 have been cured.

Bangladesh reported first three cases of coronavirus on March 8.
