Indian Eid visa camp launched today

The Indian High Commission on Saturday launched Eid visa camp, the first of its kind in Bangladesh-India history in an effort to further ease visa process.

Home boss Asaduzzaman Khan, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam and Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla formally inaugurated the visa camp.

Claiming the day as a special day, The High Commissioner said, ‘Such initiative shows attention that visa occupies in two countries relationship and the magnitude of Indian visa operations in Bangladesh.’

Around 6,000 visa seekers were there outside and inside the camp on the inaugural day.

Other than exceptional cases, the visa applicants will be given a one-year multiple visa, the high commissioner told reporters before the formal inauguration of the camp.

The almost two-week camp is being held for the first time as a special measure for Bangladesh nationals who wish to travel to India during the upcoming Eid holidays.

The camp will remain open only for Bangladesh nationals presently residing in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Mymensingh divisions, said the High Commission.

The visa applicants can submit their tourist visa applications on a walk-in basis without a prior appointment date/e-Token at the EID visa camp.

The applicants with appointment dates must submit their visa applications at any of the Indian visa application centers in Gulshan, Dhanmondi, Uttara and Motijheel in Dhaka and Barisal, Mymensingh and Khulna outside Dhaka.
