AL MP sued over assaulting election officer

A case was filed against the ruling Awami League lawmaker Mustafizur Rahman Chowdhury on Friday in allegation of assaulting an election officer in Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong district.

The case was filed against the MP of Chittagong-16 constituency and a few others, whose identity could not be known immediately, said Habibur Rahman, additional superintendant of police of Chittagong South Zone.

Mustafizur ‘verbally abused’ Banshkhali Upazila Election Officer Zahid Hossain at the office of the upazila nirbahi officer for not appointing the lawmaker`s men as polling officials in the Union Parishad polls.
