3 killed as truck rams into auto-rickshaws

Three passengers of two auto-rickshaws were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Rangpur on Sunday.

Of the deceased, two were identified as Marjina Begum, 24, and Ripon Chandra, 25.  

The injured are Deepti Rani Roy, Bina Rani, Mithi Rani, Mintu Roy and Balashi Rani. 

All of the victims were the inhabitants of Kishoreganj upazila in Nilphamari.

Locals said, the accident took place when a truck lost control and rammed into two auto-rickshaws at Paglapeer area in the city around 7am. Three passengers died on the spot and five others were injured critically. The injured were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Sajedul Islam, officer-in-charge of Rangpur sadar police station, confirmed the incident to Jago News.
