Resignation of DGHS chief demanded

A legal notice has been sent to the chief of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) professor Abul Kalam demanding his resignation for failure to take proper for tackling coronavirus.

Supreme Court lawyer Md JR Khan (Robin) served the notice to DGHS director general on Thursday, the lawyer told Jago News.

The notice read a total of 3,328, including 170 physicians, 100 cops, 28 journalists, seven admin officers, and many nurses, were infected with COVID-19, and 110 died from the virus as of April 22. But DGHS chief and others concerned failed to take appropriate steps to fight the deadly virus. That is why the doctors are being affected more after common people.

In the notice, the lawyer also warned of taking legal action as per existing law if the DG does not resign soon. 

Bangladesh first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8. Since then the country has been witnessing increase in the infections and deaths. 

As of Wednesday, 3,772 people caught the virus and 120 died from, with 92 recovered from.
