Sherpur beggar gets house for setting rare instance of help

For setting up a rare instance of disaster-time help from the most poor to the poor, a Sherpur beggar, who donated his savings to the UNO’s relief fund, will get a house with land from the government as a gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reports BSS.

Beggar Nasimuddin has donated Taka 10,000, which he saved in two years for repairing his house, to the UNO relief fund for distributing among the jobless poor people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of the district administration, Nasimuddin was accorded with a reception at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Sherpur today.

Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner Anarkali Mahmub said the prime minister has directed the authorities concerned to build a home with a piece of land for elderly beggar Nasimuddin, who donated Tk 10,000 from his savings to the UNO’s relief fund.

She said as per the directive of the prime minister, a house and land worth Taka 25 lakh will be handed over to him.

Handing over Taka 20,000 in cash to Nasimuddin for starting a grocery shop, Anarkoli Mahmub assured him of giving all necessary support to this end.

She said the Jhenaigati upazila administration will continue providing healthcare facility to him.

ADC ABM Ehsanul Mamun and Jhenaigati upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Rubel Mahmud were, among others, present.
