Coronavirus cases rise to 54, says Health Minister
Three more people have been tested positive in Bangladesh for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 54.
Health Minister Zahid Malek said while addressing the online press briefing organized by the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Wednesday noon.
The death toll from COVID-19 has rose to 6 as one more person died in the last 24 hours, said the Health Minister adding that one more person has been cured from the disease. The number of cured patients is 26.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8.
The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year.
The deadly virus spread to 203 countries and territories, killing some 42,344 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
As many as 860,095 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 178,438 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
