SAU halts exams, bans gatherings over coronavirus
Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University (SAU) authorities have decided to suspend all sorts of examinations of the institution to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
It also banned all kinds of metting-rally on the campus for indefinite period taking utmost safety of the students into account.
The decisions came in a meeting presided over by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed on Sunday morning.
In the meeting, authorities urged the teachers, officials, employees, and students coming from abroad not to roam openly on the campus, rather to stay in home-quarantine.
Besides, authorities asked the mosques committees concerned on the campus to request Tablighi Jamaat for refraining themselves from staying in the mosques there for the time being.
The deadly epidemic, novel coronavirus, infected as many as five people in Bangladesh. Among them, three have recovered from the virus.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei province in December last year, and later spread to 152 countries.
It, so far, killed 5,847 people, including 3,199 in mainland China, and infected around 159,620 worldwide. As many as 75,956 people recovered from the virus, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles new case numbers of COVID-19.
