Raij Uddin excluded from Swadhinata Padak list

SM Raij Uddin Ahmed has been excluded from the list of "Swadhinata Padak 2020" (Independence Award) recipients.

The Cabinet Division on Thursday published an amended list of the award recipients from where Raij Uddin's name has been dropped. 

Earlier on February 20 the government selected nine personalities and an organization to honour with Independence Award 2020 in recognition of their outstanding contributions to their respective fields. 

But inclusion of litterateur Raij Uddin in the list sparked huge criticizm as there are many other famous ones than him in the country to deserve the award. 

In this backdrop, the government published the revised list excluding him from it. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the awards to them at a function in Dhaka on March 25.
