Kuddus Afrad, Sajjad Tapu to lead DUJ
Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) has elected Kuddus Afrad (Anandabazar), and Sajjad Alam Khan Tapu (Jamuna TV) its president and general secretary respectively.
Kuddus bagged 650 votes, and Tapu 475. The duo competed in the election from same panel.
Other elected office bearers are: M A Kuddus (vice president), Khairul Alam (joint secretary), Ashraful Islam (treasurer), A Zahidur Rahman Zihad (organizing secretary), Asaduzzaman (publicity secretary), Dulal Khan (sports and cultural secretary), Soheli Chowdhury (public welfare), and Zannatul Ferdous Chowdhury (officer secretary).
Chief election commissioner Kashem Humayun on Saturday night announced the results.
Earlier, votting in the DUJ election began 9am and continued till 5pm without break at Jatiya Press Club.
In this polls, 2,043 voters out of 3,160 cast their votes.
Some 89 candidates under five panels vied in the election for different posts.
