Sirajganj gang rapists get capital punishment

Six people have received the capital punishment, death penalty, for gang raping a woman in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj.

The district Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir delivered the verdict on Thursday afternoon.

The tribunal special public prosecutor (APP) Sheikh Abdul Hamid Lablu confirmed the matter.

The also fined condemned convicts-- Md Russel, 22, Sohel, 23, Razzak, 41, Nazmul, 21, Nuru alias Nur Islam, 23, and Momin, 31-- Tk 1 lakh each.

According to the case statement, convict Russel, also lover of the victim, and five others gang raped the girl on Jamuna river bank in Bhatpiyari area on April 20, 2016. 

Later, the victim's brother lodged a case with Sadar Police Station in this connection.
