Attack on 2 journos covering customs' drive

Two journalists came under attack on Tuesday afternoon when they were covering a drive by the Customs Bond Commissionerate in Old Dhaka's Nayabazar area.

Assaulted Fakhrul Islam and Sheikh Jalal are working with private television News24 as reporter and cameraperson respectively.

They both were admitted to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). 

The Customs Bond Commissionerate, Dhaka conducted drive against a few companies on information that these have been sold products in open market imported with bond benefits.

About the incident, News24 reporter Md Khandaker told Jago News that unidentified miscreants suddenly attacked two journalists who went there to cover office assignment.

The attackers also snatched away their camera and backpack as well as vandalized their vehicle used for news covering, Khandaker added.

DMCH police camp in-charge Bachchu Mia said among the injured, Fakhrul received severe injury in hand. Now, they both are undergoing treatment here, he added.
