Bangladeshi gets life for killing wife, 2 children in London
A UK court has sentenced a Bangladeshi national to life term imprisonment for killing his wife and two children in East London in 2006.
The Old Bailey court in London on Thursday delivered the verdict against Md Abdul Shakur, 46, with a minimum prison term of 40 years.
The court said Shakur lived along with wife Juli Begum, 26, and two daughters-- Tanha Khatun, 6, and Anika Khatun, 5-- at East Ham of London since 1999.
In the beginning of January of 2007, police recovered the bodies of Juli, Tanha and Anika from Shakur's house.
He murdered wife and daughters on December 31, 2006, and fled to Bangladesh and later went into hiding in India. In April, 2019, he was taken back to UK through Commonwealth.
After long investigation, police confirmed that the trio were strangulated to death.
In a statement given in the court, deceased Juli's family expressed their satisfaction in the verdict.
