DNCC polls: Atiqul gets 2,00,969 votes, Tabith 1,25,262

Ruling party Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Atiqul Islam has taken lead in the early vote counting of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election.

In 619 out of 1,318 polling stations, Atiqul got 2,00,969 votes while his near rival BNP's Tabith Awal 1,25,262.

Declaring the results started at Agriculture University auditorium in city after following votting in the election ended.

Earlier voting in DNCC election began at 8am and ended at 4pm without break amid various allegations, including EVM difficulties. 

In DNCC, there are 30 lakh 10 thousand 273 voters. Of the voters, 15,49,567 are male and 14,60,706 are female. DNCC has 1,318 polling centers while there are 54 general and 18 reserved (women) wards in the city corporation.
