Balloting in DSCC, DNCC ends peacefully
Balloting in Dhaka south and north city corporations concluded peacefully.
The voting in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) began at 8am and ended at 4pm without any break, reports BSS.
Voters cast their vote amid festivity through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) method to elect mayors and councilors to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
Most voters were found enthusiastic by giving vote through EVM system.
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina cast her vote at Dhaka City College centre in the morning.
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda cast his vote at 11.05am at I.E.S School and College polling centre of Sector-5, Uttara.
AL’s DSCC mayoral candidate Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh cast his vote at Dhanmondi Government Girls High School centre and his rival BNP’s Ishraque Hossain cast his vote at Shaheed Shahjahan Government Primary School.
AL’s DNCC mayoral candidate Atiqul Islam cast his vote at Nawab Habibullah Model School and College in Uttara Model Town area and his rival BNP’s Tabith Awal cast his vote at Manarat International School in Gulshan-2.
There are 30 lakh 10 thousand 273 voters in DNCC. Of the voters, 15,49,567 are male and 14,60,706 are female. DNCC has 1,318 polling centres while there are 54 general and 18 reserved (women) wards in the city corporation.
In DSCC, there are 1,150 polling centres for 24 lakh 53 thousand 194 voters. Of them, 12 lakh 93 thousand 441 are male and 11 lakh 59 thousand 753 are female. DSCC has 1,150 polling centres while it has 75 general and 25 reserved wards.
Around 50,000 members of law enforcement agencies are maintaining law and order situation. A total of 129 executive magistrates and 64 judicial magistrates have also been deployed in the two city corporations elections.
