CEC’s fingerprints don’t match in EVM

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda today faced trouble as the fingerprints of both his thumbs didn’t match in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) when he went to cast his vote in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) polls.

Later, the election commission chief exercised his franchise with his national identification (NID) at IES School and College centre at Uttara around 11am.

The voting in the DNCC and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) elections begun using solely the electronic voting machines (EVMs) at 8am and it will continue till 4pm without any break.

A total of 13 mayoral candidates are vying in the Dhaka north and south city corporations while around 7500 candidates are contesting for councilor posts in the two city corporations.

In DNCC, there are 30 lakh 10 thousand 273 voters. In DSCC, there are 1,150 polling centers for 24 lakh 53 thousand 194 voters.
