Writ seeks cancellation of Tabith's candidacy

A writ petition has been lodged with the High Court (HC) seeking cancellation of candidacy of BNP's mayor candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation Tabith Awal for allegedly concealing wealth statement.

In the writ, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and others concerned have been made respondents.

Retired justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik filed the writ the HC on Sunday, he told Jago News.

The HC bench of justices JBM Hasan and Md Khairul Alam will hear the writ on Monday, Manik also said.

The former justice said Tabith and two his associates have shares in a company named NFM Energy Pvt in Singapore. 

Tabith and his associates became owners of all shares of the company but the BNP candidate did not mention the company in his election affidavit.
