Now 3,300 meter of Padma Bridge visible

The 22nd span of the much-awaited Padma Multipurpose Bridge was installed Thursday at the Mawa point in Munshiganj district, making 3,300-meter out of total 6.15km of the main structure of the bridge visible, reports BSS.

The 1-E span was installed on the pillar no. 5 and 6 at the Mawa point around 11:32 am, said Dewan Abdul Quader, an executive engineer of Padma Bridge Project.

Earlier, the work to take the span near pillar no 5-6 by Tian-E crane at Mawa started around 9:00am from Kumarbhog Construction Yard.

Some 3,300-meter of the bridge is now visible after installation of the 150-meter long span, he said.

The 22 spans out of 41 were installed in phases and the rest will be installed by July next, he said.

According to experts, the national economy is expected to witness 1.2 percent GDP growth rate, while 0.84 percent poverty will be reduced every year after completion of the bridge to be built with an estimated cost of Taka 30,193.39 crore.
