Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today asked the members of Bangladesh Police to be more “people-friendly”, saying that the people’s confidence and trust in the police have increased to a great extent than the past, reports BSS.

“Actually, the police will have to become a force of the people so that they (people) get confidence and trust (from the police) and can stand before them,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina said the people’s reluctance towards police that existed in the past is now over.

“Rather the public confidence and trust in the police have raised significantly … it’s mostly needed,” she said and instructed the police members to work in this way.

The prime minister was addressing senior police officers at Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the occasion of the Police Week-2020.

The Police Week-2020 that began on Sunday is being observed with the theme “Mujib Borsher Ongikar, Police Hobe Janatar”.
