4 of a family among 6 killed in Faridpur road accident

Six people, including four members of a family, were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Mollikpur area in Faridpur Sadar Upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Boalmari upazila Olama Dal president Dr Shariful Islam Hadi, 40, his daughter Tabassum, 8, sister-in-law Takia Akter, 13, niece Tanzila, 18, friend sub-inspector Faruk Hossain and microbus driver Nahid.

Shariful’s wife Rimi Akter was critically injured in the accident and sent to Dhaka for treatment.  

According to the source, a Dhaka-bound microbus collided head-on with the Benapole-bound ‘Mamun Paribahan’ bus around 7:30pm. Six people were killed on the spot.

Kanaipur highway police in-charge Safur Ahmed, said the accident took place due to the poor visibility caused by dense fog.
