The teens develop friendship with girls to rape
The members of a juvenile gang, whose eight allegedly gang raped a teenage girl in Jashore, develop friendship with adolescents through different platforms, including Facebook, to rape them, police said.
Police have, so far, arrested three of the gang. They are: Al Afsan Puspa of Shangkarpur Golpata Masjid area, Rayhan, 20, and Shakil, 20, of of Kharaki South Hazampara in the district town.
They were sent to court on Saturday afternoon, Jashore's Additional Police Superintendent Mohammad Touhidul Islam briefed the reporters.
He said a teenage girl was admitted to Jashore General Hospital in critical condition on November 2, and on the same day a case was filed with Kotwali Police Station following the victim's complaint of gang rape.
After the lawsuit was registered, Kotwali police and Detectives jointly launched investigation in the crime and conducted drives to nab the accused, the police official added.
Early hours of Thursday, police arrested prime accused Puspa from Sonadanga. Later, accused Rayhan and Shakil were also nabbed from Gopalganj and Kharaki areas.
Police learnt in primary investigation, witness of plaintiff and statements of the accused that Al Afsan first befriended the teenager.
As a sequel to, he took her inside garden behind Kharaki Daktarbari on motorcycle around 10pm on November 1.
Puspa along with his friends-- Rayhan, Shaki and Shadia-- fed liquor to the girl there and forcefully raped her.
Then, she was taken to rented house of Puspa's friend Hridoy of Office Para in the town. There the victim was again violated by Puspa, Mamun, Hridoy and Nata Mamun.
Additional Police Superintendent Touhidul said the teen gang make friendship with juvenile girls through facebook and other social media platforms.
When the relationship becomes deep and trust grows in, the gang members ask female friends to meet and subsequently rape.
The teen gang is also involved with drugs, said Touhidul, adding that they are looking into whether the circle is involved with other crimes.
