Sand-laden vessel capsize claims 4 lives

Four workers lost their lives as a sand-laden vessel, known as a bulkhead, sank in the Buriganga river in Fatulla of Sadar upazila of Narayanganj.

Divers of Fire Service and Civil Defense also rescued two, including master of the bulkhead.

The deceased were identified as Lutfar Rahman, 39, from Kandebpur area under Jhalakathi's Nalchhiti upazila, Mostafa, 55, from Chasherkathi area, in Kaukhali upazila, Babu, 18, from Chhoto Arji in Pirojpur, and Mohibullah, 60, from Iluhar in Banaripara upazila of Barishal.

Quoting the bulhead's master, Fatulla BISCIC fire official Mohammad Kazal Mia said a sand-laden vessel capsized in Dharmaganj Kheyaghat area around 2:30am on Friday when master and workers were asleep in, causing deaths of four.
