PM receives 2019 Asian Townscape Jury’s Award
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today received the ‘2019 Asian Townscape Jury’s Award’ for her government’s outstanding contribution to developing the Purbachal New Town Project, reports BSS.
Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim and secretary of the ministry Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker handed over the award to the premier at the outset of the regular cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office here today.
The Purbachal New Town Project, implemented by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) under the ministry of Housing and Public Works, won this award.
The award was given at a grand programme in the Technological and Higher Education Institute (THEi) in Hong Kong on November 23.
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme UN-Habitat Regional office, Asian Habitat Society, Asian Townscape Design Society and Fukuoka Asian Urban Research Society jointly presented the award.
Jury Board nominated Purbachal New Town Project after scrutinising 36 Housing Projects of different countries of the Asia Pacific regions for the competition on August 20.
The under construction- 3L: Language , Liberty and Legacy Iconic Tower Project in sector-19, National Cricket Stadium in sctor-1 and Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in sector-4 of Purbachal New Town project plays special role to receive this award.
The project is being executed on about 6,227 acres of land at Purbacal in the capital.
