VP Nur sued for religious incitement

A case has been filed against Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) vice-president Nurul Haque Nur on allegation of religious incitement and propaganda.

Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad joint convener Rashed Khan was also accused in the case.

Arnab, publicity secretary of DU Jagannath Hall unit Chhatra League, lodged the case with Dhanmondi Police Station on Thursday night under Digital Security Act.

Abdullah Kafi, additional commissioner of Dhanmondi Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the matter.

Kafi said a DU student registered a case against Nur and Rashed with Dhanmondi Police Station under Digital Security Act accusing the duo of inciting religious hatred and spreading propaganda on social media.

Earlier on Wednesday, VP Nur and 28 others were sued by DU BCL leader DM Sabbir Hossain on theft charge during attack at DUCSU building.

On December 22, some leaders and activists of Muktijoddha Mancha, a platform comprising descendants of freedom fighters, allegedly attacked DUCSU VP Nur and his followers, leaving at least 34 injured.

VP Nur, later, sued 37 BCL and DUCSU leaders and unidentified 40-50 over the attack.
